The most modern stop in Austria

As part of the ULTIMOB (Ultimate Integrated Mobility) research project, PLANUM designed a smart bus stop in the center of Feldkirchen.
This has become an important symbol of sustainable mobility in Feldkirchen bei Graz and represents modern, urban mobility in transition.

Graz transport planner Marie-Thérèse Fallast (“PLANUM”) explains the smart bus stop concept, which is also supported by the Ministry of Transport, as follows: “These are bus stops that offer free WiFi, digital timetables and green bus shelters.” Robert Schmied, managing director of the Graz Energy Agency, adds, “There will be service providers around Ultimobs, florists, food vending machines, newspaper stands. The whole thing will be powered by photovoltaic panels.” Mayor Erich Gosch (ÖVP) is enthusiastic. “It also says how long it would currently take me to get to the city by car and when the next train is leaving. This motivates me to use public transport.
Feldkirchen is one of four pilot regions, along with Salzburg, Tulln and Ötztal. “Different things are tested everywhere,” Schmied said, “and the best solutions are then implemented.” Robert Preis KLEINE ZEITUNG 21.1.2021
