The most modern stop in Austria

“Ultimob”: Bus stop in Feldkirchen town center is ambitious pilot project.
You stand in the rain and try to find out how long you have to wait for the bus on the yellowed timetable slip behind the foil. This is soon to come to an end. In spring, an Austria-wide pilot project will start at the bus stop on the main square of Feldkirchen near Graz.
The “Ultimob” (Ultimate Integrated Mobility) concept, which is also funded by the Ministry of Transport, is explained by Graz-based transport planner Marie-Thérèse Fallast (“PLANUM”) as follows: “These are stops that offer free WLAN, digital timetables and green bus shelters.” Robert Schmied, managing director of the Graz Energy Agency, adds, “There will be service providers around Ultimobs, florists, food vending machines, newspaper stands. The whole thing will be powered by photovoltaic panels.” Mayor Erich Gosch (ÖVP) is enthusiastic. “It also says how long it would currently take me to get to the city by car and when the next train is leaving. This motivates me to use public transport.
Feldkirchen is one of four pilot regions, along with Salzburg, Tulln and Ötztal. “Different things are tested everywhere,” Schmied said, “and the best solutions are then implemented.” Robert Preis KLEINE ZEITUNG 21.1.2021
