On 14.12.2016, the regional assembly of the Styrian Central Region, chaired by Mayor Siegfried Nagl, unanimously adopted the regional mobility plan. This is the first time that a mission statement has been drawn up for Voitsberg, setting out the priorities for a future-oriented mobility policy. In Europe’s cities and metropolitan areas, a shift away from the car-oriented city has been taking place for several years, and the available space is being divided more fairly among all modes of transport.
This trend will also spread to regions. This mobility plan was developed in the sense of an integrative planning approach, with a focus on a sustainable, climate- and energy-friendly transportation system. Public transport and bicycle traffic are to be strengthened; for motor vehicle traffic, the expansion of the B70 will create a strong connection between the district and the A2 and thus to the core city, which will also serve to strengthen the business location.

The regional assembly of the region of Southwest Styria adopted the regional mobility plan Southwest Styria on 14.11.2016.
On behalf of the Transport Department of the Province of Styria, PLANUM thus created a model for a future-oriented regional mobility policy. In the sense of an integrative planning approach, we developed a cross-modal concept with a stronger focus on public transport and bicycle traffic. Special attention was also paid to multimodal mobility. Space and transportation develop together, with many contributors involved at the planning level.
The aim of this regional mobility plan is to realize a coherent regional planning and transport policy in the region of Southwest Styria.
