This has become an important symbol of sustainable mobility in Feldkirchen near Graz and represents modern, urban mobility in transition.


The presentation of timetables for better legibility can be seen as an important innovation. Complicated and illegible timetables are often displayed at “normal” stops. In contrast, they are easy to understand at the smart stop, even for inexperienced public transport users. They are displayed on an info screen. In addition, the promotion of biodiversity is supported by greenery on the sides and roof of the stop. In addition, covered bicycle parking facilities and connectable lockers provide multimodal access to the stop. An information screen with up-to-date mobility information and a photovoltaic system installed on the roof contribute to the sustainability of the stop.


Graz transport planner Marie-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Fallast<\/strong> explains the concept of the smart stop as follows: “These are stops that offer free WiFi, digital timetables and green shelters.”
Robert Schmied, Managing Director of the Graz Energy Agency<\/strong>, adds: “There will be service providers, florists, food vending machines and newspaper stands around ULTIMOB. The whole thing will be powered by photovoltaic systems.”
Mayor Erich Gosch<\/strong> (\u00d6VP) is delighted. “It also tells me how long it would currently take me to get to the city by car and when the next train leaves. It motivates me to use public transport. “


Feldkirchen is one of four pilot regions, along with Salzburg, Tulln and \u00d6tztal. “Different things are tested everywhere,” Schmied said, “and the best solutions are then implemented.” Robert Preis KLEINE ZEITUNG 21.1.2021
